Overview
The Arts Center at Governors Island is the first permanent home for arts and culture on Governors Island, an incubator for creative experimentation, and a space for engagement and dialogue. Curated and programmed by LMCC, work developed and presented at The Arts Center focuses on sustainability and equity.
Located on Governors Island, a short 8-minute ferry ride from Lower Manhattan and housed in a beautiful 19th-century munitions warehouse, LMCC’s Arts Center at Governors Island offers over 11,000 square feet of event space with breathtaking views of the Manhattan skyline and New York Harbor.

Cafe
Standing: 112 max., Seated: 75 max.
With beautiful views of the Manhattan skyline, the Café is the main entrance to the Arts Center’s two galleries and lends itself for lunch or cocktail events. The 2,334 square foot space includes a separate kitchen prep area as well as a bar.

Lower Gallery
Standing: 111 max., Seated: 100 max.
With views of the Manhattan skyline, the Lower Gallery is a raw, industrial space featuring original beams and columns, exposed brick walls, and other details from the building’s past as a munitions warehouse. It is accessed through the Café and perfect for films and photoshoots, presentations, speaker events, and performances.

Upper Gallery
Standing: 200 max., Seated: 200 max.
A light-filled, airy, versatile space with soaring ceiling heights and spectacular views of the Manhattan skyline, accessible through its own foyer/entrance from the street (at the building’s upper level) or through the Café (on the buildings lower level) via an open staircase or the elevator, it is the only large indoor space on the island.
