Great Performances operates a select group of cafés within cultural institutions and landmark locations. Each café has a signature style, reflecting the host institution and upholding our food mission to serve seasonal and local ingredients. When possible, we incorporate produce from our organic farm, Katchkie Farm in Kinderhook, NY, into our café dishes.
At each of our cafés, we celebrate seasonal fruits and vegetables by hosting monthly festivals that highlight the best of each month's local produce. We also teamed up with the James Beard Foundation to create a Guest Chef Program through which we bring James Beard guest chefs into the Great Performances cafés to create and serve special menus. These menus are often reflective of the cafés' individual styles as well as events and exhibitions that are occurring at the cafés' host institutions. The Guest Chef Program is an incredible opportunity to increase chefs' exposure in New York City and give café guests a one-of-a-kind dining experience.
