Yorkville Common Pantry Spring Benefit

The Yorkville Common Pantry (YCP), one of New York City’s leading anti-hunger organizations, will honor Liz Neumark and Great Performances for their commitment to fighting hunger and to food rescue.

In addition to catering events for New Yorkers, feeding the city’s hungry is a core value of Great Performances’ mission. Since 2006, the company has earmarked 5% of its annual harvest from its own farm, Katchkie Farm in Columbia County, to anti-hunger projects. For over two decades, the company has been committed to food rescue.

“Our passion for feeding New Yorkers does not stop at the end of a Gala night,” says Liz Neumark.  “It is our belief that all our neighbors deserve to go to sleep on a full stomach.  Our dedication to food rescue and sharing the bounty of our farm harvest defines who we are as a company.”

Accepting the honor with Ms. Neumark at YCP’s Spring Benefit on Wednesday, March 10, 2010 will be Chef Albert Lovelace, who manages Great Performances’ food rescue program. The gala, to be held at the landmark Bohemian National Hall (321 East 73rd Street) at 6:30 PM, will also honor Wendy Stein and Madison Avenue Presbyterian Church for their long-standing support of the Food Pantry.

YCP is dedicated to reducing hunger while promoting dignity and self-sufficiency.  YCP champions the cause of the hungry through food pantry and meal distribution programs, nutrition education, basic hygiene services, homeless support, and related services.  YCP´s community based programs focus on East Harlem and other underserved communities throughout New York City.
