There is a universe of information at our fingertips and we are delighted to share some of our favorite sites with you.  The listing is comprised of a range of food related topics - from recipe sources to websites that tell you where the nearest farmers market is located to organizations involved in food policy to restaurant reviews.

NOFA is a community of farmers, gardeners, land care professionals, and consumers working to strengthen our relationship with the natural world and promote the growth of sustainable regional food.

ORGANIC SEED ALLIANCE
Organic Seed Alliance promotes the ethical development of genetic resources through sustainable agricultural, conversation, and collaborative education.

NORTHEAST SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE WORKING GROUP
NESAWG works toward sustainable regional food systems throughout the country. NESAWG aims to redirect public policy and educate citizens on the need to sustain economically viable, socially just, and environmentally sound food.

 

Food Justice:

JUST FOOD
Just Food is a vibrant nonprofit organization that promotes a holistic approach to food, hunger, agriculture issues.  Their efforts in New York City and at the regional level work to preserve ecosystems, reduce pollution, promote social justice, and invigorate rural and urban economies.

CITY HARVEST
City Harvest, the world's first food rescue organization, gathers excess food from restaurants, grocers, corporate cafeterias, manufacturers, and farms to feed over 260,000 New Yorkers.  By delivering food to more than 600 community food programs, City Harvest aims to end hunger in communities throughout New York City.

FOOD BANK NYC
With a four star rating from Charity navigator, Food Bank NYC increases access among low-income New Yorkers to affordable nutritious food while  also providing health education within the five boroughs.

ALLIANCE TO END HUNGER

The Alliance to End Hunger tackles hunger on a national level by engaging political leaders and increasing voter awareness. With partnerships around the globe and a strong membership base, the Alliance has seen substantial results in the effort to end hunger. 

NEW YORK STATE COUNCIL ON FOOD POLICY

In May 2007, the Council on Food Policy was created to address statewide issues of agriculture, hunger, and sustainability, among many others.  The Council works with the governor on issues of food policy, from legislation and budget proposals to expanding local farming.

FOOD SYSTEMS NYC
The Food Systems Network NYC is a membership-based organization that stimulates the communication between stake holders and professionals within the food system. Through meetings and events, the organization strives to supply nourishing and affordable food universally.

ORGANIC CONSUMERS ASSOCIATION

The OCA is an online and grassroots non-profit 501(c)3 public interest organization campaigning for health, justice, and sustainability. The OCA deals with issues of food safety, industrial agriculture, genetic engineering, children's health, corporate accountability, Fair Trade, and environmental sustainability.
