Q. Can you please provide me with the following information for wedding bookings?  What is included package/rental for your venues, including accessibility, location fee, catering fees, gratuity, etc.  In addition, please provide me with deposit/payment requirements.  Thank you in advance for your time in regards to this matter.

- Robin M.

A. Dear Robin,

Great Performances works with hundreds of wedding venues and we’d be happy to provide rental information and logistics for the venues that interest you. Please feel free to visit our venue search system and browse the numerous spaces where we cater events! For catering fees, our average estimate is $150 per person excluding staff and rentals.  We pride ourselves on creating a wedding that suits your vision. The venue fee is additional and varies with the type of venue chosen. As for gratuities, we do not solicit them, they are optional.  We request 50% of the catering balance prior to the event. We can assist with additional vendor referrals should you book with Great Performances Weddings. We thank you for reaching out to us.

Best wishes,
Porfi

Q. I am hosting a birthday party for my mother, which will be attended by all her grandchildren with ages ranging from 6 to 16.  I need some menu suggestions for dinner because I want something festive and special for my mother, but at the same time offer something kid-friendly.
-  Mary W.

A. Dear Mary,

When having to entertain that many youngsters, I suggest keeping it to foods they know and love - comfort foods that can be prepared easily and in advance.

Some of our favorites:
A pot of vegetable chili with the fixins, add a few taco shells and the kids can make their own. Turkey meatloaf
is a great option for the adults and a healthy alternative to meat or chicken pot pie which can be made in an oven pan or individual pots. Mac and cheese is popular with children or in my house – everyone loves my vegetable lasagna which is a little more upscale. The party would not be complete without the chicken fingers and then sneak in the all time favorite of mini-franks in pastry. A salad with lots of chopped vegetables (cucumber, tomatoes, peppers, avocado, beans) appeals to all ages as well. Dinner veggies can include lightly steamed broccoli, baby carrots and green beans. If you want to think about incorporating some fish, it depends on the sophistication of the kids – sushi is always popular, but we know lots of kids who love roasted or grilled salmon as well. I would not forget to include one of your mothers favorites too.
