We integrate these principles into all aspects of our work, from delicious food and striking design to attentive service to an understanding of trends and value. Founded in 1979 as a waitress service for women in the arts, Great Performances is the leading catering and events company in New York City. We are the exclusive caterer to some of the city’s most prestigious institutions, including The Plaza Hotel, Jazz at Lincoln Center, BAM, Brooklyn Museum, Museum of the City of New York and the Apollo Theater.

One of our cornerstone values is social responsibility. We engage in anti-hunger and food rescue efforts, help cultivate a sustainable food system though our organic Katchkie Farm, and educate children about healthy eating through our work with The Sylvia Center.

What We Do

We cater all events from small, intimate gatherings to large, elaborate events with skill and grace. Services include: full-service catering, staffing, transportation, event planning, design, special events and festival operations, and cafe and restaurant operations for companies and cultural institutions.

We are professionals who care deeply about our craft as much as we do about the people for whom we work our magic. We take a tailored approach in which each event is unique to the client's needs and goals. We have a varied and experienced network of event professionals and all of our event and service staff are trained under our proprietary GP University program. Great Performances represents a family of event professionals, partners and clients in which we have built longstanding relationships and continually draw inspiration from our diverse group. We work side-by-side with local growers and purveyors to bring the best of the season to your table.

In addition to non-profit, corporate and social events, we are thrilled to partake in some of the country's most highly-regarded special events. We have served as the Official Caterer for the New York City Wine and Food Festival, Miami Open, Miami Boat Show, and the South Beach Wine and Food Festival.

It Matters Where Our Food
Comes From.

Over the past 10 years Great Performances has worked towards building stronger farm to city connections and supporting the local food system and community. In 2006 we became the first caterer to own and operate an organic farm, reflecting our commitment to supporting sustainable agricultural practices. The farm serves a robust 500-member CSA program, delivering the freshest produce to NYC every year. Katchkie Farm is also home to The Sylvia Center, a nonprofit organization founded by CEO Liz Neumark to address issues in childrens' health.

In the GP kitchen, over 100 tons of food scraps are diverted annually from landfills through repurposing, composting and recycling efforts. Event leftovers and farm surpluses go to food pantries across the city, including NY Common Pantry, Bowery Mission, City Harvest and West Side Campaign Against Hunger. Annually, over 2000 gallons of discarded cooking oil are transported to Katchkie Farm to heat our greenhouses.
