Facing Fall at the Farm

We left NYC; temperatures were in the mid-60's.  Upon arrival at Katchkie Farm, it was in the mid-50's, clear sky with brilliant sun.  The ride up was magnificent.  Fall colors were evident once we exited Manhattan, where the season is still late summer.  Leaves swirling, crisp air, red and yellow leaves.  it was as though someone had flicked a switch.  I really did not realize the seasons had changed.

Weekend update from Katchkie Farm August 1st

I am thrilled to share images taken by Johannes Courtens, a high school senior, who is working at Katchkie Farm this summer, but who also a neighbor.  Johannes has grown up at Roxbury Farm and in addition to his outstanding agricultural skills, is a gifted photographer.  His images capture the beauty of Katchkie Farm and the emotional quality of the rain as well as his passion for farming.

Update from the Farm July 17 - 19th

For the moment, the tomatoes are looking good, though we are deeply concerned about the threat of blight.  Two of our greenhouses are dedicated to a variety of tomatoes.  It is a wonderful treat to enjoy their rich flavor.  We know it is truly summer!

Impromptu Picnic

One of the greatest things about the farm is how it attracts people to it.  Add to that the fact that a meal is only a little harvesting away and you have the perfect recipe for a pop-up picnic.

And so it was yesterday – a clear, bright and stunning Sunday that became the backdrop for an impromptu gathering of friends, visitors and farmers.
