This Important Americana sale includes the wonderful folk art and furniture collection of Frank and June Barsalona. Their collection has masterpieces of folk painting such as the portrait of Margaret Deuel by Ammi Philips and the portrait of Dorman Theodore Warren by Zedekiah Belknap and masterpieces of folk sculpture such as the Cushing and White Liberty weathervane and the J. Harris & Company Indian "Massaoit" weathervane. Also in the sale is the important Corlis-Bowen Family Chippendale Block and Shell-Carved and Figured Mahogany Desk-and-Bookcase, attributed to the shop of John Carlile, Sr. Providence, Rhode Island, circa 1770. It stands as a masterpiece of Providence, Rhode Island furniture and is one of a small handful of Rhode Island block- and shell-carved double case pieces. The sale also includes the amazing recent discovery of the Parkman-Scollay Family Chippendale Carved and Figured Mahogany Bombé Chest Of Drawers, attributed to Thomas Needham Sr., Boston, Massachusetts, circa 1780. With it diminutive size, remarkable untouched condition, wonderful figured mahogany and known place of origin, family history and maker attribution this chest possesses all the attributes that define it as a ultimate masterpiece.
