Bronx native E.L. Doctorow earned critical acclaim with The Book of Daniel, a fictionalized account of alleged traitors Julius and Ethel Rosenberg, and has gone on to write twenty additional works, including award-winners Ragtime (1975), World’s Fair (1985), Sweetland Stories (2006), and Creationists (2006). Doctorow is the recipient of many awards, including a Guggenheim Fellowship, a National Book Award, two National Book Critics Circle Awards, two PEN/Faulkner Awards, the Commonwealth Award, the William Dean Howells Medal from the American Academy of Arts and Letters, and a presidentially conferred National Humanities Medal.
