The Best Bad Letter

Life is filled with learning moments. Sometimes the best ones are those that catch you by surprise, even causing you to scrutinize one's automatic response to situations and reconsider the reactions.

This just happened to me with a client. It was the father of a bride who had a very atypical experience with my company, researched who to contact, and sent me a detailed letter outlining his dissatisfaction.

Heirs to Heirlooms

Seeds of Passion!
How many different ways can we utilize the metaphor of seeds?
Seeds of peace - http://www.seedsofpeace.org

Seeds of change - http://www.seedsofchange.com
Seeds of deception http://www.seedsofdeception.com

While most of these sites are connected to agriculture, the notion of planting a seed is synonymous with cultivating (another agricultural term) a change in the world - a political system; a food system; an outlook or belief.

Vacation Musing

Ten days away with perfect weather (sunny days, cool nights, no rain) is the stuff dreams are made of. It was great to be away, learn new things and get a perspective on all the old stuff. It was spectacular to feel cold again and reach for a blanket or a sweater in the evenings.

A Marriage of Compromises

It is almost ticklish to read in the Sunday Times, " ... the most political decision of Ms Clinton's wedding was not whether to invite James Carville. By choosing to have meat, she reignited a sensitive wedding-season debate among ethical eaters and the people who love them: To serve, or not to serve?" Urban Fiesta/Farm and Garden to Table

It has been a wonderful time to celebrate the season of local agriculture. Thursday evening was the fruition of a dream to host an urban Farm to Table dinner, not unlike the dinner in the fields we had hosted 2 weeks ago. Billed as 'Country Mice/City Mice; Choose your Dining Option', this was the week for the Katchkie Farm to come to the big city.

Tomato Thief

Sunday Night

Dear Farmer Bob,

I was at Katchkie Farm today. I know we usually cross paths, but as it was Sunday and I did not want to go to your house and risk intruding on your peace and quiet. We usually meet up in the fields or at the barn - when you didn't appear, I figured I would do my farm thing and head out. Maybe you were resting, or not even there. A single day a week without work related distractions is not only fair, but also healthy!
