World Science Festival Launches at Jazz at Lincoln Center
by Beth Kaiserman

GP took guests to infinity and beyond for this year’s World Science Festival gala.

The organization’s 10th anniversary was launched at Jazz at Lincoln Center with 1000 concert-goers in the Rose Theater and 300 dinner guests in the Appel Room on May 30.

The event started with an original music and dance piece, Time, Creativity, and the Cosmos. The dinner's theme was the five stages of the universe: Big Bang, Time, Creativity, the Cosmos and Beyond. Some of this year’s menu ideas were incorporated into the show before dinner. The meal kicked off with “Big Bang Carpaccio,” fava bean tapenade, beets, cherry tomatoes, carrots, purple potatoes, yuzu vinaigrette & green oil, served with air bread.

Entrées were served on spray painted glitter plates, and dessert represented all five stages of the universe, with galaxy donuts, frozen yogurt and chocolate “rocks,” mango mousse flambé with mango meringue pieces, and sugar art to tie it all together.

The World Science Festival featured a series of 60 events across NYC, including a discussion on climate change in Times Square and an astronaut meet-up in Brooklyn Bridge Park.
