The National Audubon Society
CPS Events At The Plaza
by Rob Arango

Once again we are delighted to host the 13th Annual Women in Conservation luncheon at The Plaza. To celebrate visionary women whose work has greatly advanced conservation both locally and globally, the National Audubon Society presented the Rachel Carson Award to three honorees in our Grand Ballroom this May. These women included Dominique Browning,Co-Founder and Senior Director of Moms Clean Air Force, Rebecca Moore,Director of Google Earth, Earth Engine and Earth Outreach andDr. Kathryn D. Sullivan, Under Secretary of Commerce for Oceans and Atmosphere and NOAA Administrator. This prestigious Audubon Award recognizes women who have shown extraordinary commitment, energy and passion in working to protect and improve our world.

Every year, guests of this eco-friendly celebration enjoyed a full vegetarian menu designed to specifically lessen their carbon footprint.  We are thrilled to have hosted the Audubon’s Women in Conservation luncheon for the 9th time, and congratulate all of their dedicated and inspirational guests.

“Our annual vegetarian menu reduces the carbon and methane emissions released into the environment caused by high volume meat consumption. Managed by Great Performances, CPS Events at The Plaza has crafted a menu that represents a deepcommitment to celebrating local flavors and good earth practices. Inspired byKatchkie Farm, its organic farm in upstate New York, its chefs have collaboratedwith local farmers and producers to bring the best of the season to your table.”  This year, guests dined on a Burrata appetizer with Ancient Grains, Squash, Pomegranate and Chicories followed by our specially curated entrée of Orrechiette with Sweet Peas, Asparagus, Truffle, Chives.  And last but not least, dessert, one of our favorites, Blackout Cake Redux with Chocolate Crémeux, Malted Milk Chocolate Custard, Beet Devil’s FoodCake, Chocolate Pretzel Crunch.  Looking forward to next year’s lunch!
