Irish Repertory Theatre and Dot Dot Productions, in
association with The American Irish Historical Society present the return of The Dead,
1904 – an immersive, food-filled adaptation of James Joyce’s
acclaimed classic story, staged in the restored 1900 townhouse of The American
Irish Historical Society.
Great Performances will create a holiday meal, served in the elegant dining room at each performance, inspired by descriptions of the feast in Joyce’s tale. Wine, stout and spirits will accompany the meal.
The sold-out run returns for seven weeks only, previews starting November 18, with a cast led by Golden Globe nominee Melissa Gilbert. The Dead was the final novella in Dubliners, Joyce’s short story collection, written in 1914 and set at a holiday party in 1904 Dublin.
The meal, prepared on-site for 57 attendees per night, will be as follows. Vegetarians are welcome.
Roast Turkey Breast Stuffed with Sprigs of Parsley & Herbs
Beef Tenderloin with Fig & Cocoa Glaze
Mashed "Floury" Potatoes; Cranberry & Pineapple Relish
Dried Figs; Artisanal Raisins served on the vine & Smoked Almonds
