The Dead Returns with Festive Food
by Beth Kaiserman

Irish Repertory Theatre and Dot Dot Productions, in association with The American Irish Historical Society present the return of The Dead, 1904 – an immersive, food-filled adaptation of James Joyce’s acclaimed classic story, staged in the restored 1900 townhouse of The American Irish Historical Society.

Great Performances will create a holiday meal, served in the elegant dining room at each performance, inspired by descriptions of the feast in Joyce’s tale. Wine, stout and spirits will accompany the meal.

The sold-out run returns for seven weeks only, previews starting November 18, with a cast led by Golden Globe nominee Melissa Gilbert. The Dead was the final novella in Dubliners, Joyce’s short story collection, written in 1914 and set at a holiday party in 1904 Dublin.

The meal, prepared on-site for 57 attendees per night, will be as follows. Vegetarians are welcome.
