On Thursday, February 11th 2016, guests gathered at The Plaza for The Bowery Mission’s 17th Annual Valentine Gala. The attendees came together to celebrate and fundraise for their ongoing expansion in New York City. With plans to open a new children’s program in East Harlem and a residential program for women in Harlem, all proceeds of the event went towards achieving this goal. This year, The Mission honored Mike Greenberg, the CEO & General Counsel of Level Group, and Larry Link, the President of Level Group, for their individual as well as company commitment to the cause. David P. Jones, named the President and CEO in 2015, attended the Gala for the first time at The Plaza.
This marks the sixth year this Gala has been held at The Plaza. The event began in the Grand Ballroom Foyer with passed hors d’oeuvres, a photo booth complete with a red carpet and Valentine’s Day themed props, and a silent auction which included some items from The Plaza Hotel! Guests eventually made their way into the Grand Ballroom, lured with music from Hank Lane Productions. The guests were on the dance floor before even taking their seats! The Valentine’s Day theme was brought to life through intimate candlelit tables with beautiful dark red roses and the Ballroom glowed with soft red lighting.
After the guests were ready to take their seats, a gorgeous Maplebrook Burrata with Ancient Grains appetizer awaited each and every guest at their tables. Between the program hosted by Sandra Lee – unfortunately, Al Roker, the anticipated host, could not attend the event – guests were served a lovely Filet Mignon with Brussels Sprouts and Mashed Potatoes for dinner. And what better way to end a meal than an alternating dessert of a Dulce de Leche Molten Cheesecake or a Blackout Chocolate Cake? Both are too delectable to be true.
We love working with the Bowery Mission and helping support their cause of helping and providing shelter to people in need. We look forward to working with them again soon!
