On July 23rd, we will be hosting the 9th annual Farm to Table Benefit Dinner to celebrate The Sylvia Center. On the afternoon of, guests arrive to cocktail hour following the same winding path that students take when they visit the farm to plant seeds, pull weeds, and harvest vegetables. Specialty cocktails and hors d’oeuvres will be served in the field house overlooking the pond. Guests can also meander through the Learning Garden or take a tour with students from the upstate program. Following cocktail hour, guests make their way to a beautifully adorned tent with freshly picked flowers as the summer’s afternoon eases into the evening.
The menu will feature family style dishes with seasonal ingredients from Katchkie Farm and local partners, including dishes such as New Crop Local Potatoes; Katchkie Farm Marinated Roasted Red Peppers with Garlic, Shallot, Basil, and Olive Oil; Fire Roasted Red Cabbage; Tricolor Beet Salad; Ardith Mae Goat Cheese and Katchkie Farm Green Pie; and Buttermilk Biscuit Blueberry Pandowdy.
The Sylvia Center is a non-profit organization founded by Liz Neumark of Great Performances, with the mission of inspiring young people and families to eat well through hands-on learning on the farm and in the kitchen. The organization offers several programs in which children immerse themselves in planting seeds, harvesting vegetables, and cooking a delicious meal in the outdoor kitchen. The dinner raises funds for almost 2,000 underserved children from Columbia County and New York City to attend The Sylvia Center’s programs free of charge.
This is a true family effort and one we’d be thrilled to share with you. Join us as we support the programs of The Sylvia Center with a beautiful farm-to-table dinner, and experience what kids experience when they visit the Learning Garden on Katchkie Farm – the fresh air, the gorgeous setting, the abundant fertility of the fields, and the company of friends and loved ones.
We look forward to seeing you on the farm!
