Is there a cold drink in your hand right now? If not, try one of these summer drinks to cool you off. These recipes feature seasonal fruits and are ideal for those hot summer days when you need a delicious, refreshing drink. We've included tips for alcohol-free cocktails and alcohol-added mocktails to keep everyone happily hydrated.

COCKTAILS


Strawberry Swing

Rum, Strawberries, Basil or Mint Leaves, Simple Syrup or Agave, Fresh Squeezed Lime Juice

Alcohol-free version: Replace rum with sparkling water. 

Cocktail Recipe: 

Remove green tops from berries. Muddle 5 or 6 hulled strawberries and mint or basil in a glass. In a shaker with ice, mix 2oz Rum, 1/2oz Fresh Lime, and 1 1/2oz simple syrup or agave with muddled berries and herbs. Shake, strain into serving glass over ice. (Non-alcoholic version: mix all ingredients but rum, top with seltzer.)

MOCKTAILS

Blackberry Agua Fresca

Blended Blackberries, Water, Agave Nectar, Lemon Juice, Lemons, Gin (optional)

Cocktail Recipe: Muddle or blend 1/4 C blackberries. In a shaker with ice, mix 2oz gin, 1/2oz lemon juice, and 1 1/2oz agave with berries. Stir, strain into serving glass over ice, and garnish with a few blackberries. (Non-alcoholic version: omit gin.)

Stir gin and blackberry mixture with ice, and strain into a collins glass.


Spring Greens

Homemade Jalapeno & Basil Limeade

Alcohol to add: Tequila

Cocktail Recipe:

Muddle 3-4 jalapenos with basil and simple syrup or agave. Shake with 2oz tequila, 1/2oz lime juice and ice and strain into a chilled coup glass or over ice. Garnish with lime. (Non-alcoholic: omit tequila.)

Watermelon Smash

Watermelon-Infused Lemonade, Mint Garnish

Alcohol to add: Vodka

Cocktail Recipe: 

Shake 1.5oz lemon juice, 1.5oz simple syrup, 1/4 C pureed watermelon and 2oz vodka with ice. Strain into a chilled glass and top with a splash of seltzer. Add berries for an extra burst of sweetness! (Non-alcoholic: omit vodka.)
