Some say that mulled wine season ends on December 26, but here at Katchkie Farm we say, "drink warm spiced booze all winter long!" This recipe is a fairly simple version of mulled wine that calls on local apple cider and honey to keep your frigid Greenmarket vendors in business well into April.

2 cups local apple cider
1 bottle Cabernet-Sauvingnon
2 tablespoons local honey
2 cinnamon sticks
1 orange, zested and juiced
4 whole cloves
3 star anise
2 oranges, peeled for garnish

Combine the cider, wine, honey, cinnamon sticks, zest, juice, loves, and star anise in a large saucepan. Bring to a boil and simmer over low heat for 10 minutes. Pour into mugs, add an orange peel to each, and serve.
