Each year, Brooklyn Museum hosts upwards of six hundred guests for its largest fundraiser: the Brooklyn Artists Ball. It’s an enormous fundraising event that supports the mission and purpose of the Museum, and allows for its continued evolution. 2017 was the seventh annual celebration and it continues to be one of the most anticipated art events of the season.

Once again, we were thrilled to collaborate with David Stark, an extraordinary creative force, and the visionary team at the Museum.

This year’s honorees were Kaseem Dean (also known as Swizz Beatz, superstar hip hop producer) and Alicia Keys (who has several Grammy awards to her name). Other artists in attendance included Maxwell, Lenny Kravitz, Mickalene Thomas, KAWS, and Kelsey Lu.

The night began with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres in the Rubin Pavilion and Grand Lobby, and DJ Runna preparing the crowd to party. The hors d’oeuvres selection included last year’s specially designed baby crudité and new delights like watermelon & feta bites. The room included subtle nods to Infinite Blue, the current exhibition in Brooklyn Museum’s Great Hall, and guests traveled through the artwork to dinner on the 3rd floor.

Beaux-Arts Court was completely transformed by the design mavens at David Stark Design based on the theme of ascending “beyond.” Ladders stood all over the room (and even made an appearance on dessert plates, each one hand-piped in chocolate). After dinner, guests returned to the Lobby space for the after party, where Swizz Beatz himself DJed before jetting off to his next project in Shanghai. It was, once again, a magical event. We can’t wait to see what next year holds!
