The sun was shining on New York City at the BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! Festival Gala last night, welcoming another summer of exciting events at the Prospect Park Bandshell.
A perfect start to summer was Tomatoes, Right Now, From the Farm with Katchkie peppers and chiles, tomato water, basil oil, herbs and blossoms.
There were two other salads: kale with Hen of the Woods mushrooms, frisée endive, toasted almonds, garlic blossom and white balsamic vinaigrette and grilled zucchini and yellow squash ribbons with hazelnuts, basil and balsamic vinaigrette. Speakers included Leslie G. Schultz, President of BRIC, and Chris Sheehan of Union Beer Distributors was the gala honoree for his work leading his family business and sponsoring BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! for 19 years. Next was a colorful spread of Corn and Quinoa Crusted Chicken, green goddess dressing, warm potato salad, herbs and greens.
After the concert there was an afterparty in the tent with DJ Rita Houston of WFUV. This summer will be the 39th season of the BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! Performing Arts Festival.
