Buongiorno! We met Rob and Maria almost two years ago and
we knew they were going to be a fun couple to work with. Rob’s family is in the
restaurant business and Maria is in the Real Estate World, so we knew they had
to have the best of the best. Best food, best space. Once they laid their eyes
on the Grand Ballroom, Maria’s heart was set, and Maria’s mom Lorraine sprung
into action. As soon as we locked down August 6th 2016, we got right
down to business and the menu planning was well on its way.
Fast forward to the tasting day, we have never had clients bring us food to their own tasting! We knew right then and there this was going to be a truly authentic Italian wedding. Leonardo, the father of the bride, was so excited that he spent all morning baking his famous cannoncini, a pastry stuffed with cream. Fortunately there were enough of them to share with our entire Sales Team. Maria’s Dad is so generous that he even brought in homemade wine for us to enjoy. After we tried these delicious pastries, we knew we would be held to a higher standard.
The tasting was amazing! Not only did we enjoy delicious food but we also enjoyed great company. The bride and groom's families are both so warm and loving. You could especially feel the love between Rob and Maria. A few quick weeks later, it was August 6th and Maria and Rob's homes were flooded with family from across the pond. Being able to host their families and make breakfast for them every day with fresh eggs from their chicken coop, was truly setting the wedding weekend off on the right foot. The espresso machine was constantly going!
Wedding day has arrived, and mid afternoon the church bells rang. The priest pronounced Maria and Rob, husband and wife. Soon after, two hundred and thirty guests made their way to The Plaza for one of the most spectacular nights.
As guests entered into the Grand Ballroom Foyer, they were greeted with custom specialty cocktails, the Swing and Robert's Bliss. (Gin, Lillet Blanc, Elderflower Liqueur, Fresh, Grapefruit Juice, Angostura Bitters… Tequila, Muddled Strawberries, Fresh Lemon Juice, Organic Simple Syrup). Everyone was overwhelmed with decadent stations. The tradition continues with an abundance of food from lobster tails to meatballs, there was something for everyone.
The celebration continued in the Grand Ballroom. Guests marveled at the ambiance set by the spiral, centerpieces and tabletops filled with shimmering candelabras, designed by QG Florals.
The band, Mirage Music, had everyone on their feet to
invite the newlywed couple to their very first dance. The Bridal Party formed a
tunnel that led the couple into their song, “At Last” by Etta James. Rob locked
eyes with his breathtaking bride the entire dance, and you could tell by the
smile on his face, that he knew he was the luckiest man in the room. Guests
then enjoyed a wonderful Green and White Asparagus Salad. They were in for a
treat, with two surprises in store.
First was a performance by Uncle Giovanni. He played the Tarantella on his accordion. Soon after we served my personal favorite, the Wild Mushroom Risotto. As guests were enjoying their risotto, The Love Show NYC danced their way onto the floor and wowed the guests with their performance based on The Great Gatsby.
It’s time for the main course where guests had the option of dining on the French Breast of Chicken, the Pan Roasted Halibut, or the Grilled Filet Mignon. After entrée the crowd was full of life and energy that would last into the early hours of the morning. But to end the wedding in true Italian fashion, Rob and Maria cut their seven-tiered Sylvia Weinstock cake and we opened up those Grand Ballroom doors to the most elaborate and bountiful Viennesse Dessert Display. The evening ended with waiters butler passing espresso.
Congratulations Rob and Maria! You were a pleasure to work with and we thoroughly enjoyed sharing your special day.
