It’s that time of year again! It’s time to make your New Year’s resolutions and attempt to keep them for more than a month. Like last year, we’re hoping for a better, healthier 2017, but this year we’re going to up the ante and really try to stick to our resolutions. Here is what we’re thinking to really live our best lives.

Turmeric

Bye Kale! This year we’re looking at other super foods. We hear that Turmeric is making its way to the top of the list. Turmeric is a natural stress reliever and an antidepressant. Try throwing some in your milk and making a “golden milk” latte.

Kombucha

What is kombucha? Kombucha is a fermented probiotic drink that is made from tea, sugar, scoby (symbiotic colony of bacteria and yeast – it’s good I promise!) It is brewed over the course of several days, and then the final product is a naturally carbonated fizzy (and not sweet!) drink. Not only does it incorporate probiotics into your body but it also detoxifies your liver (we know you need this after the holiday season) and increases your metabolism.

Brussels Sprouts & Group Fitness

Before you head to your workout, throw some Brussels sprouts in the oven. Roasted vegetables are making a comeback! Brussels with chickpeas, cranberries, pecans, feta, and a splash of lemon vinaigrette make for a super healthy and delicious snack after you return from your work out.

In an office of mostly women, we all have our own way of breaking a sweat. Ali, Emily and I absolutely LOVE CYC Fitness. It is a group cycling class that uses calorie burning intervals and weighted sectors inspired by 20 different sport movements, all to the beat of expertly crafted playlists. Find us there doing our thing most days of the week!

Erin and Lauren love going to Pilates on the Square. Our bodies are incredible and can be pushed to do the most amazing things that strengthen core muscles, elongate the body, and improve balance, coordination and overall flexibility.

Find Rachel, Jess and Kelsey making up their own routines at the gym. If group fitness isn’t for you, try On-Demand Workouts from your local TV Provider. These are a great way to get a good workout it while you roast your vegetables from the comfort of your own home.

Food, Food & More Food

Okay you sweat. Now you’re showered and starving. What else do you eat? More vegetables of course! Throw some carrots in a pan with a little bit of butter, garlic, salt, pepper and parmesan then bake until they’re browned to your liking.

We know that turkey has already made its way to the top of the healthier/lean meat options and we agree! Try this fabulous recipe for turkey buffalo meatballs.  Preheat your oven to 400˚F. Using ground turkey, egg whites, crumbled blue cheese, Frank’s Red Hot, and scallions, place the meatballs on a parchment lined baking sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes. Drain excess fluids then drizzle with more Red Hot and bake for 2-3 more minutes. Voila! A healthy and delicious snack.

A Better You

2017 can be the year of a happier and healthier you. Just be sure to have a cocktail every now and then!
