Lately the Plaza’s Grand Ballroom has been quite the popular venue for movie premieres, but the most recent premiere party was on Sunday, April 25 for something perhaps even more fitting for the Plaza’s chic clientele: a Broadway musical.

The revival of Promises, Promises, the famous musical comedy from the 1960s, stars the charming Kristin Chenoweth and hilarious Sean Hayes. After the opening performance, the cast and audience celebrated at the Plaza Hotel, entering through the famous Palm Court, where the Step & Repeat banner was located for press photos. Guests then flowed through the Terrace Room, and finally arrived in the legendary Grand Ballroom, where they sipped on cocktails and enjoyed various menu items on the dinner and dessert buffets, such as Herb Roasted French Breast of Chicken with Hudson Valley Mushrooms, Farm Peas and Carrots, and Kahlua Marbled Cheesecake.

Although the past two premiere parties held at the Plaza featured two of the biggest heartthrobs of two generations—John Travolta (From Paris With Love) and then Robert Pattinson (Remember Me)—this event was possibly one of the most star-studded to date. Among the long list of over 1,000 guests who attended were Joan Rivers, Hugh Jackman, Neil Simon, Jane Krakowski, John Stamos, Vanessa Williams, T.R. Knight, and Kelli O’Hara (who had just performed here less than two weeks ago at the Turnaround for Children Inaugural Benefit & Dinner).

It was truly an honor to be such a collaborative part of this Broadway debut. The show “promises” to be a smashing hit, and it all started here at the Plaza.
