Book Party for Grace Ormonde at The Plaza, "Being in Love Never Goes Out of Style"

The Plaza hosted a book party for Grace Ormonde, the powerhouse behind perhaps the most romantic, fantasy-loving wedding magazine on the market, Grace Ormonde Wedding Style. So what better concept for the event than to show off just how gorgeous a Plaza wedding can be.

Grace Ormonde's new book is substantial ... and so were the buffet stations: here, CPS Events at The Plaza Executive Chef Jack Kiggins carves the roast beef.

"I've never seen the Palm Court look so sexy," said Ormonde. "It's an amazing experience to be here."

Wedding style fills the Palm Court

Mirrored tables reflected the restored stained glass window in the Palm Court; lounge set-ups added a sexy, nightclub feel.

The beautifully restored Palm Court was used on this special occasion in combination with the Terrace Room. Removing the panels between the rooms created two distinct spaces connected by a staircase.

Just as in the pages of Grace Ormonde's book, handsome men modeled a selection of gorgeous bouquets.

Luxe Event Rentals provided furniture fit for a queen (pictured here is Eva Trytel);
there were violinists to play for her.

Many of the vendors who work at the hotel, including lighting designer Bentley Meeker and event planner Harriette Rose Katz, went all out for the October 15 party, a kick off to Bridal Market Week.

"It looks beautiful," said cake maker Sylvia Weinstock, whose white tiered cake covered with red flowers greeted guests as they entered the Palm Court. "I think the lighting is extraordinary and I like the fact they opened up the rooms. The flow is easy and very elegant."

The food included bountiful tables of sushi and a new station from CPS Events at The Plaza with an Indian theme.Guests were blown away. "This is everything you'd want for your wedding," said Kate Hemphill of Asprey.

Surveying the Terrace Room, Mike Warren of CPS Events at The Plaza was very proud of how all the elements came together. "We're hosting the most important players in the wedding world tonight," Warren said. "I take great responsibility to carry on the great history of The Plaza into the next 100 years."
