The holidays are quickly approaching which means glittering window displays, an abundance of hot chocolate, and, most importantly, our 7th Annual Latke Festival is drawing near! This year’s potato-centric gathering will be held December 7th, 6:30-9:00 pm at Metropolitan Pavilion. Many of the tried-and-true latke favorites will be returning this year, such as Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola and Veselka. However, many newcomers will be participating and spicing up the competition as well! We are thrilled to see the seasonally-inspired latke crafted by Rouge Tomate and the latke with southern flare from Jacob’s Pickles.
Moreover, while enjoying these tasty treats, we cannot forget the true purpose of the evening, aside from chowing down on delicious food that is. The Latke Festival benefits The Sylvia Center, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that addresses the growing epidemic of childhood obesity and diet-related diseases by inspiring children, teens and families to eat well through hands-on experiences on the farm and in the kitchen. All proceeds will help fund the New York City programs that teach young people from NYCHA Community Housing Centers basic cooking skills and the principles of healthy eating.
