On August 17th, 1967, Joan and Stuart
took a walk down the aisle as Man and Wife. 2017 marks the 50th
anniversary of their wedding where they took that walk down the aisle in the
Terrace Room in front of 150 guests.
We sat down with Joan and asked her to share some details of her special day.
What made you pick The Plaza 50 years ago?
“I love, love the Terrace Room. It was the absolute perfect spot for us.”
How did you and your husband meet?
“We met when I was fourteen years old. It feels like a lifetime ago!”
How do you stay married for 50 years? What is one piece of advice you would give to a bride today?
“Overlook a lot of things! My advice to a bride today would be to stay married.”
What song did you select for your first dance?
“Love is A Many Splendored Thing. It is still one of my favorite songs to this day.”
What was on the menu?
“It was pretty standard as far as weddings go. A usual meal followed by our delicious wedding cake.”
Where did you go on your honeymoon?
“We did a bit of a Eurotrip. We went to different cities in France and England, and Majorca in Spain. It was spectacular!”
What was your something old/new/borrowed/blue?
“I wore my mother’s blue garter.”
What is the most memorable moment from your day?
“The first night!”
